Will You EVOLVE?
WILL YOU EVOLVE?
I think it’s fair to see I’ve been in and around the industry for some years, working my way up through sponsorship deals to eventually working in the industry. Now I’m not saying that some of the companies I have worked for made great products, they did, but when Evolve approached me back in 2023 and showed me the products they had produced, it was a no brainer to jump onboard!
For a very long time I feel the carp market has become a little stagnant, same products different packaging, products chosen from a supplier’s catalogue then re-packaged or tweaked slightly. But when it comes to Evolve, things are a little different. We have managed to create products that can far outperform what is readily available in today’s market.
I could sit here and run through the whole range with you, but that would take an eternity, so I have decided to write about one of the products available in our ‘systems’ range, the Weight Clip Run Ring System.
This system suited the waters I was fishing at the time, waters where the need to drop the weight/lead were not needed. So, with that in mind my chosen system had to be the Weight Clip Run Ring System. The reason I chose this system was due to the amount of variation I could have whilst setting the system up, and secondly, how they system turns from a semi-fixed set-up into a free running set-up, so the carp cannot use the weight or lead to eject the rig. All I can say is, the takes are savage!
But another beauty about this set up is having the flexibility to be able to adjust the release rate of the swivel.
The ingenious idea of having the “+” or “-“ setting helps when nuisance birds or silver fish are constantly attacking your rig. For this reason, I always set to the “+” tolerance, but when none of the above are bothering me, I am happy to leave this on the “-“.
And another bonus about this system…………the weight/lead is not lost during the battle, saving yet another lead/weight littering the lakebed bottom and, saving money at the same time!
Now the summer has finally arrived, the lakes I am fishing will in some cases need the weight ejected for fish safety, so with that in mind, I’ll turn to our weight clips or in-line drop off system to cover that scenario. I have a trip planned for the mighty ‘Lac Du Der’ this August, so hopefully I’ll be able to put our range through its paces. Keep your eye on our social pages for updates about this trip, I may even try a little ‘vlogging’ whilst there.
All the best, James.
